Hidden in Chinatown
The Hideout is a new private event space in Philly Chinatown, a BYOB, game-filled hangout designed for adults. Spanning three floors, the venue includes a vintage pool table, darts lounge, arcade, foosball, a kitchenette, and a bar. Guests book their event and bring their own food and drinks for big birthdays, small date nights, and all kinds of celebrations. The space is owned and designed by Philadelphia-based designer and entrepreneur Laura Kao.

My Story
I opened The Hideout in October of this year, a brand spankin’ new spot right in Chinatown where I grew up going to school and hanging out with my childhood friends. I put a lot of myself into the funky Contemporary Asian interior design. The Hideout is the kind of fun, unique place I’d want to book myself. I love a good party and some games, so this space is totally my vibe. After owning Room 244 years ago in Old City, I knew the event-space idea still had legs. When I closed Room 244 in 2021, I figured I’d circle back one day — and four years later, I did, this time with a fresh twist on the concept. Bigger and better!
