A Creative Entrepreneur
Founder Laura Kao grew up connected to Chinatown through family businesses and schools in the neighborhood. After years working as a graphic designer and creative director, she transformed the multi-floor space herself, blending playful lighting, contemporary Asian influences, and a bar-inspired atmosphere into something intentionally different from a typical event rental.
Laura is a Philadelphia-based designer and entrepreneur specializing in graphic design, product design, and experiential concepts. In addition to the Hideout, she runs Moodio, a home goods brand featured in New York Times Wirecutter gift guides, and works as a freelance graphic designer focused on creating logos and branding for local, thriving small businesses.
Previously, she founded Room 244, an art gallery and event space in Old City, as well as Inked Vintage, an online upcycled clothing brand.

Free, BYOB, Open Invitation Party
Open Hours is a seasonal session at the Hideout that allows guests to experience a party at the Hideout without committing to a private booking or scheduling a 15-minute tour. These events happen seasonally and are the only times the space is open for exploration, free game-play, and sometimes even contests, raffles, and vendors. Bring a friend, drinks, snacks, food, whatever you need to make yourself comfortable and come by our Open Hours.
